Playing career[]

He started his career playing for the Brown University (NCAA), changing to the Tri-City Americans (Western Hockey League) later to the Saskatoon Blades.

In 1994, the Calgary Flames drafted him. His first NHL game was in the season 1995–96. For the 1999–00 season he changed to the Florida Panthers and after one and a half years to the Phoenix Coyotes.

Since season 2003–04, his career has been marked by several changes in team; the Anaheim Mighty Ducks; the Ottawa Senators, the Chicago Blackhawks and the Montreal Canadiens.

He played for the Hannover Scorpions in the 2006–07 season. After playing a good season in the DEL, the New York Islanders brought him back to the NHL. However, he has played no games since the NHL respected a DEL suspension of 12 games imposed for referee abuse.
