Greater Ottawa is the term for the Greater Region of Ottawa. As of 2006, approximately 956,000 people live in Greater Ottawa, but that number will soon reach 1 million and over.

Our definition of Greater Ottawa currently includes:

  1. City of Ottawa
  2. City of Clarence-Rockland
  3. Township of Russell
  4. Township of North Grenville
  5. Village of Merrickville-Wolford
  6. Township of Beckwith
  7. Town of Carleton Place
  8. Town of Mississippi Mills
  9. Township of Montague
  10. Township of McNab/Braeside
  11. Town of Arnprior
  12. Township of Horton
  13. Town of Renfrew
  14. Township of Whitewater Region
  15. Township of Laurentian Valley
  16. City of Pembroke
  17. Town of Smiths Falls
  18. Town of Perth
  19. Township of Drummond/North Elmsley

Our definition of Greater Ottawa, however, encompasses much less than the National Capital Region does. The National Capital Region includes well over 1.1 million people because it includes Gatineau. Once we get more established as a wiki, however, we might start to include Gatineau and other parts of Quebec in Greater Ottawa.

How about we do a breakdown of population by district:
